Standard vs full interior detail: which do you need?

Short answer

A standard interior (about 2 hours) is a thorough clean of a reasonably kept cabin. A full interior (about 3 hours) is a deeper detail for heavier soiling, stains, pet hair or a vehicle that has not been cleaned in a while. If you are unsure, the shop can look at it and recommend one.

Quick facts

Standard InteriorAbout 2 hours
Full InteriorAbout 3 hours

What is a standard interior?

Think of it as a thorough maintenance clean. Carpets, seats and mats are vacuumed, and surfaces like the dash, console and door panels are cleaned. It suits a cabin that gets regular care and just needs a proper refresh.

What does a full interior add?

A full interior is a deeper detail. More time goes into the areas that hold dirt: carpets and upholstery, seams and crevices, vents and the spots under and between seats. It's the right choice for stains, heavy pet hair, spills or a vehicle that hasn't been cleaned in a long time.

How do I decide?

Ask yourself when it was last properly cleaned. If it was recent and the cabin is in decent shape, a standard interior is enough. If you'd be embarrassed to give someone a ride, or you're preparing to sell, go with a full interior. See detailing before you sell.

At APC Auto Spa

Both interior services are available at both shops. Prices are firm and set by vehicle category (car, truck or SUV, and 3rd row), with no upcharge for exotics.

If you can't decide, describe the vehicle when you book and the shop can recommend one. See APC Auto Spa's detailing page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine an interior with an exterior service?
Yes. Many people book an interior together with a wash, decontamination wash or exterior detail.
Does an exterior detail include any interior cleaning?
An exterior detail includes a complimentary vacuum and wipe-down of the driver's area only. It is not an interior detail.
Which one is right for pet hair?
Heavy pet hair usually calls for a full interior, because removing hair woven into carpet and fabric takes time.
